Antoni Tolmos, Lleida (Spain) 1970, pianist and composer. He has a degree in Piano, Musical Language and Music Theory. He is Doctor in Music Improvisation. Nowadays, he is working at the Universitat de Lleida and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as a professor in Music education and he has been Vicedean of Faculty of Education of the Universitat de Lleida.


He is the conductor of several musical productions and the author of the music and arrangements of plays as "Mercedes" by Tomas Bracht (Tarrega 97), "El Jorobado de Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo for Zum-zum teatre (Grec 97), "Rubab, el misteri de l'instrument prohibit" (Lleida 2007) etc. He has written the music for some silent films as "Los Nibelungos", "Before to Hollywood" etc. and music for documentals and TV ads.

He has won several awards as the first award of Composición "Ciudad de Reus" in 1999 and he was finalist in 1997, extraordinay prize of Doctoral Dissertation in 2006, Batec Award 2007 for his project "Musical improvisation, creating and enjoying in real time" and some awards for the music in theater and cinema.

His music has been broadcasted in international radio and tv stations, where he has also played in direct. He usually gives courses about piano improvisation and about new technologies applied in music in conservatories and Universities of Spain, Andorre, France, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Austria.

His approximation to jazz has taken to him to Festivals of Jazz as San Sebastian (2010), Festival of Jazz of Granollers (2009) and Festival of Jazz of Lleida (2007) where CD and live DVD has been recorded.

He has some CDs being author and interpreter entitled "Cristall" (DiscMedi 1999), "Silencis" (Satchmo 2001), "Blanc" (Satchmo 2003), “Sons de ciutat” (DiscMedi 2005), "Patio de luces" (CD+DVD Quadrant 2008), the DVD "RECITAL ANTONI TOLMOS" (HM 2006) and “Nit Urbana” (Urban, 2010). He has published some of his pieces scores, books and articles presented in international conferences. Hi is author of the Tesis about piano improvisation as pedagogical tool.

His challenge is to continue using his music as source of happiness of those who listen to it.
